The golden lion half of the creature shone as bright as the sun in the late summer afternoon. His metalic silver wings were folded against his body, and his gold flecked eyes stood out against the lacey silver of his eaglish head. Beak opening in a lound Kacaw!, the creature lunged forward. His talons tucked in against the downy of his belly as the lion's paws of his back half left the green grass of the mountain meadow. A boulder sized shadow soared under him as he bounded ahead, leaping through the green sea of grass for the joy of feeling the wind in his feathers and fur.
Even in the time of crisis, when war was threatening his kingdom, and the Truques closed in on the brave warriors of the Verite, the sun of the summer afternoon felt good on Eophorus's muscles. Stretching his metalic wings, which had been folded against him long and tight to the point where they began to hurt, the griffin let them catch the air and lift him into the blue sky. There were no boundries in the high depths of the sky above Verita. Only the clouds and the distant horizon marked the endless seaglass above Eo.
Closing his amber golden eyes, Eophorus let the sunlight streak him in warmth, and freedom, and bliss. The cold grew as he climbed into the sky, but the sun felt so much warmer. The feeling of flight was incredible, as it always was, and the eddies of air in his silver lace of feathers loosened him up, letting the King feel relaxed. But however much he sometimes longed to fly away from the burdon of leadership, Eophorus knew he had to turn back.
Folding his metalic wings, the sunlight no longer reaching every irredescent silver feather with its live-giving touch, he plunged towards the earth, the wind rushing in his long, horse-like ears, Downy feathers were left in a thin trail behind him; it was almost time to begin the autumnal renewal of his his feathers. Floating down like little rain clouds, they would settle themselves all over the lands in a few minutes, if the wind kept up.
Eo reached the ground with a dull thud. He looked up into the late afternoon sky he had come from, the warm sunlight streamining through the breaks in the far off cloud, and turning the wisps of ice above him to little golden bands. It was a blissful feeling to know that he had touched the sky.

Horabeast walked across the mighty earth, feeling the dirt squash between his feet. He walked with an air of power, one that nothing could ever frighten him.
Horabeast looked up at the clear, blue sky. He longed to go flying. So, he started running and then he took off, his wings giving powerful strokes against the air. The cool stream of air rushed between his wings, it felt good. Horabeast started flying fast, the feeling of freedowm creeping up on him.
Minutes passed, the once shining sun was pouring on to much heat to Hora. He started decend, and that's when he saw it. A griffin was flying through the sky, just like he.
At first, Hora kept his distance, but when curosity entered him, he flew over to the other griffin. Hora eyed him, glancing his body and strong wings. In plain sight of the griffin, Hora had to say something. All he could think of was, "Who are you?"

Bitter cold sliced through his sun-warmed downy feathers as the wind ruffled them. Eophorus felt his lionlike golden fur shake on his back as he shivered slightly. His glowing amber eyes sensed movement from one side, a black astroid skidding through the blue of the summery sky. Another griffin, a black male with golden hued eyes like the king's own, flew with owley ease in the expanse of the second world above.
At the question he was asked, Eo nearly cocked his head to the side like a raven watching his shiny target from above. No, he did not, for it would look stupid, and stupid was one word that he could not have associated with himself. Never in a million years. "Who are you?"
"I? Who am I? I am Eophorus, the King or the Verite. Who are you?"
The metalicly silver and gold griffin gazed at the newcomer, suprised, yet curious. He picked up his golden paw and scraped the earth with his hindfoot, pawing dust away from the rocks under the soil. He tried to look into the gold eyes of the other griffin, but he couldn't focus well in the bright sunlight, so he gaze up.

It was a strange scene, if you were looking up. Two griffins were huddled in mid-air, gazing warily at eachother.
At the griffin's reply, Horabeast almost fell out of the sky. But he straightened himself. "He is the king!" Hora thought to himself. It was so embarresing when all he was, was a member of the Verite.
Hora ruffled his feathers. "I am Horabeast" he replied. He wished he could give a grander title, but there was nothing else to say. "I am a member of the Verite" Hora whispered, shamfully.

Eophorus did not hear the whisper of the noir griffin, and flicked air off his wings in attempt to raise himself above the other creature in an act of dominance. This silvery irredescence of his wing feathers shimmered in the sunlight, and the dark centers of his amber eyes narrowed as he lifted his sun to the light. Eo's eaglish neck errected on his feathered shoulders, taken aback by the odd animal's simple introduction.
"What is your alliance?"
The question hung in the air, hammering his long, feathery ears. A drag pulled his talons, and he lifted them up into the down of his chest and folden his wings into a narrow, streamlines silluette. He lifted his beak so the sun lit his face, and waited to see why the griffin did not recognize the inhumble leader.

Even now, while Horabeast promised himself that him would always be more powerful than the other, he had never thought he would meet the king. Hora seemed to be shrinking from Eophorus adn, in contrary, Eophorus was rising above Hora.
Eophorus knew that he was king, and that was that. He probably thought that Hora was a weird griffin, who never met others. Eophorus was not humble, he let Hora know who was king. Hora was so imbarressed that he wanted to die, shrink into the air, and dissapear. But he had pure black feathers, and those certainly did not blend in with the surrondings.
Horabeast snapped himself to attention at Eophorus's mighty and commanding words. Hora stuttered, "I am a Verite". But then he wondered if Eophorus was deaf or dumb because Hora had already told him that.

Eophorus looked at the griffin blankly. His brain tried to connect, but didn't. If this griffin did not recognize his own king, how could he call himself part of the alliance? The silver feathers that formed an arc over his golden eyes went up, and towards eachother. He was confused, so much even he could not hide it.
"Then I am confused."
It hurt Eophorus to admit that he did not know what was going on, but there was no one but this surely mental griffin near him, so he gave in to the overwhelming curiosity. He hoped the creature was mortified. Eo did not often wish others to be buried in their own shame, but he himself was displeased to understand so little, so the cause should pay. He was the other griffin's king; he could do what he wanted, right?

"Then I am confused"
Horabeast barely heard the words, for he was flying away. His shame and embarrassment had burned his face bright red, and he could no longer look the king in the eye. So, he flew away. Flew away from all that confusion and fear.
But Hora pondered over the statement made by Eophorus. Now Hora was confused also. What was the king confused about? And why would he admit to that? Questions ran through Hora's mind as he flew away, his powerful wings stroking the air.

Now Eophorus was less confused than he was suspicious. Surely this was something planned, plotted by the Truques. Parania spread over his coat, like briar vines scratching his with ruthless vines. He flew onward towards the griffin who called himself Horabeast, stroking the sky with floating silver feathers. His wingtips carressed the sky as he sped along the blue heavens, light cought in a prism of solid gold. He sprialed after Horabeast, banking left and right, alternating which eye saw the sun and which saw the green hills below.
Eophorus wanted an answer. He wanted answers, to be more exact. If there were Truque soldiers flying through the high clouds or running in the trees, he did not care. He heaved air away, propelling himself through the sky and towards the... Verite with bad memory? Truque enemy? Mentally ill? Which one?

All Horabeast had wanted to do was leave and get away from the embarressment and possibly leave Eophorus a little confused. But he had not wanted this. Eophorus was coming after Hora, flying fast, and headed straight in his direction.
Hora panicked. He was strong and a good flyer, but he was not agile or had endurance. And if Eophorus caught up to him..... who knew what he would do? Maybe he would be mistaken as a crazy griffin or a spy for the Truque..... both of what he wasn't.
Horabeast shuddered at the thought and looked behind him. Eophorus was staring at him, his eyes glittering, and he was gaining. Hora put on an extra burst of speed, but then all was lost as he started to get tired.

Eophorus banked around the black griffin, trying to get in front, where hopefully self preservence would stop the griffin from continuing and ramming into the king. He stared at the creature, golden flames burning in his eyes, like coals on snowy rocks, surrounded by his feathers. He stuck the air with his eaglish talons and threw back his head, demonstrating dominance over Horabeast.
"Tell me, are you just very, very confused, or nare you some horrible spy?"
Hostility spiced Eophorus'voice as he sharply mocked Hora. He waited for the griffin to respond, wonding if he would back down or stand up. His golden eyes glowed with feiry sarcasm. He was angered, and wanted to knock sense into Horabeast. But he just waited to see what Hora did.

Horabeast stopped to stare when Eophorus finally caught up to Hora, even though he was a bit red in the face and puffing. Even though Horabeast had been expecting it, he paused a little when Eophorus asked him the question, "Tell me, are you just very, very confused, or nare you some horrible spy?"
Horabeast cleared his throat. "How could you think me a spy?" he questioned. "I am a member of the Verite and I hate evil". He gazed down silently. "But it is bad if you have thought do" he continued, blushing. Oh course, his behavior had made Eophorus think he was a spy! Horabeast looked up, admitting deafeat and asked, "Will you forgive me?"

Eophorus was more than a bit annoyed. He tried to fight it, but the urge to roll his golden eyes was far to strong. The blushing black griffin hung in the air in front of him, and Eo stared down with eyes like razors. He paused to consider kicking the creature ouit of his alliance, but Eo knew he needed to keep the Verite's strength up in case of a war with the Truques.
"Feel lucky that I'm in a good mood today, Horabeast. You may stay with the Verite, but you must learn to keep updated."
Eophorus lifted his eaglish head, and let the tufts of silver feathers that protruded from his ears like a mule's long ears point up into the blue heavens. His body language said "dominant" and his mind said the same. He shot a peircing look at the masculine.

Horabeast nodded enthuseactically and was very relieved that he was allowed to stay wit the Verite. Even though Eophorus said he was pleased, it didn't look like it.
Hora hovered there for a mintute, before flying down wards and away from Eophorus.
